1. : a stop in a pipe organ whose pipes are in unison with or one or more octaves higher or lower than the piano strings sounded by the corresponding keys — compare mutation stop
2. : any one of the fundamental flue stops (as the diapasons) as contrasted with reed stops or mixture stops
